February Pack Meeting: Blue & Gold Banquet Our February Pack Meeting is the annual Blue & Gold Banquet, held on Sunday afternoon, February 12, rather than Friday evening. This is our local birthday party for Cub Scouting in the United States, and our Arrow of Light ceremony for our Webelos IIs. This is an annual pot luck dinner and all families are encouraged to participate. Our Blue & Gold Chairs, Sue Boswell and Kathleen Santeufemio, will be providing more information at the January Pack Meeting. New Leaders Needed We are only two months away from our annual crossover for our Webelos II scouts. And with their sons, we will lose key Pack 14 leaders to graduation. Please consider joining the Pack leadership and making the most out of your son's scouting adventure. Upcoming ...

January Pack Meeting: 1) Recharting & Annual Dues January is re-chartering month for Pack 14 and the Boys Scouts of America nationwide. We will need to complete all of our paperword immediately following the January Pack Meeting. 2012 annual dues are due no later than the January Pack Meeting. After that, we will be required to drop those who have not renewed from the Pack roster for re-chartering. To continue, they would have to file a new application to re-join. Dues are $40. Please bring your check to the Pack Meeting. 2) Pinewood Derby Workshop The formal part of our January Pack Meeting will be short, with just a few announcements and awards. After that, we will be helping any scout or scout family that needs assistance build their derby cars. This is an optional workshop and there is no need to stay at the Pack Meeting if your car is complete or if you plan to build it at home. The Pack will offer design assistance and suggestions as requested, as well as tools to help building your car. We will also have the official scale available for weighing in your car (cars cannot exceed 5 ounces). Please note that we will not be painting cars at the workshop. 3) Woodworking Tools Those leaders who have them will bring woodworking tools to the Pack Meeting (some of which the scouts will be able to try themselves and some of which will be supervised). However, we would love to have a second scroll saw or portable bandsaw to reduce a likely bottle neck. If you have a saw, or a dremel tool, you can bring, please let your den leader or pack leadership know as soon as possible. Pinewood Derby Car Everyone should have their Pinewood Derby kits now. Additional kits are available for the Open division for parents, siblings, and friends for an entry fee of $10. The Pack 14 Pinewood Derby will be held Saturday, January 21 at the VFW beginning at 10:00am. However, all Derby cars must be weighed in and sequestered on Friday, January 20 at the VFW from 5-8pm. Pack 14 wants each boy to experience building or helping to build his own race car. We do not allow other cars into the race. Only the official BSA Grand Prix Pinewood Derby kits are permitted. No after market kits will be permitted. A full list of Pack 14 rules for the Pinewood Derby are available on the Pack 14 website as either an online
